Book Giveaway: An Immovable Feast

April 3, 2018

For the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know author, poet, and musician, Tyler Blanski. Tyler was an Anglican seminarian when I met him, on the road to becoming an Anglican priest. There was only one difficulty: He had recently had a crisis of faith and was increasingly drawn to Rome.

As we sipped pints of beer in a local pub, Tyler shared a little of his journey and how he felt a call to enter the Catholic church. He told of his discovery of Marian devotion and his newfound embrace of the papacy. Yet, for all his enthusiasm, Tyler knew conversion would come at a cost, and he would have to sacrifice many things that were dear to him. Nevertheless, a few months later, my wife and I stood behind Tyler and his wife as their confirmation sponsors as they were received into the Catholic church.

Now, Tyler has written a beautiful memoir of his conversion, titled An Immovable Feast: How I Gave Up Spirituality for a Life of Religious Abundance. The book is an artfully written narrative of a young man’s journey from religious relativism to the Catholic faith, reminding me of classics like Thomas Merton’s The Seven Storey Mountain. It’s received high praise too, from the likes of Archbishop Charles Chaput, Peter Kreeft, Cardinal Raymond Burke and many more.

For the next week, I’m giving away five free copies of An Immovable Feast. Click below to enter the giveaway!
